“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

– Romans 8:1-2 NIV

Meditation and reflection upon the topic of my recent post Faith=Freedom allowed me to hear the Spirit of God whisper to me the necessity of understanding Christ came to set me free from condemnation. Christ died for my sins as an expression of God’s forgiveness when I accept what Christ accomplished on the cross as the payment for the penalty for my sins and the redemption of my soul from the consequence of sin. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 NIV

Christ came to set me free! Free from feeling condemned, guilt ridden and weighed down with self-pity. Free from mistakes, past failures and poor choices made that rob me of joy, peace of mind and exuberance that comes from hope’s expectancy in God to perform the miraculous in, through and around me. God is faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me of all unrighteousness as I confess my sins to Him (see I John 1:9). God loves me enough to set me free from anything that would hinder me and prohibit me from experiencing the fullness of His greatness expressed through the power of the Spirit of Christ living in me and through me! Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” – 2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV

Faith in Christ gives us the authority to live in this world as God had commanded us to back in the book of Genesis (see Genesis 1:26-28).  God gave man (man & woman) authority to rule over the earth. The Spirit of Jesus Christ living on the inside of us, gives us liberty to live by the authority given to us by God to live victoriously; free from condemnation, sin and stagnation. “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or know him.” – John 3:4-6 NIV We were created in the image of God, given authority and power through faith in Christ, to live in this world in a way that reflects His image and makes our lives productive. “The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind.” – Psalm 115:16 NIV The Maker of heaven and earth made us in His image to reflect His image in the earth!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” – Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV Christ came to set us free from the proverbial treadmill of exertion that produces energy without progress or productivity. We have been endowed by the Creator of the universe to make use of His power to experience the transforming work of His Spirit to make us more like Him and walk as His Son did, in the earth, to make the world around us better. By the authority of His Name, His word and the anointing of His Spirit, we receive liberty, through Christ, to live and experience the fullness of life Christ came for us to have. When Peter stepped out of the boat to walk towards Jesus, he was walking in the liberty provided him, by the power of God surging through him, to walk on water.

May God bless you and help you to experience the liberty He wants for you to encounter as you walk with Him, by faith, and persevere towards the fullness of life Christ came for us to have.
