“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.”

– 2 Corinthians 1:10-11 NIV

In the process of our faith walk with God, we encounter opposition, misfortune, injustice and grief in varying degrees that challenge us to look back and look forward. We look back in recognition of what God has already done to bring us to where we are in our faith walk with Him currently and what He helped us to overcome. By doing so, we look ahead beyond what is currently in front of us believing God will deliver us, because He has delivered us. In essence, God did not bring me this far to leave me now. Our memory is a gift to be used to reflect upon the history of our sojourn with God in this world to empower us to forge ahead and press toward the goal for which He has called us to in Christ Jesus.

Because of the sufficiency of God’s grace and His power perfected within us in our times of weakness, we can rest with assurance in Him, that the same God who saved us, in Christ, is the same God who will save us in our troubles. Persevering through our trials sharpens our focus, our faith in Him and strengthens our spiritual resolve and internal fortitude that enables us to keep in step with His Spirit and continue to walk by faith despite the odds or the enormity of our circumstances. Hope in God reinforces to us the value of relying on the expanse of the greatness of God to fulfill what He promises in His word and perform what He speaks.

He is God, who raises the dead and calls those things that are not as they ought to be! He alone is sufficient to help us in our time of need and He will satisfy our desires with good things. No good thing will He withhold from him whose walk is blameless. He will keep him in perfect peace, him whose mind is stayed on Him, to the soul that trusts in Him. He will not allow anything to happen to us that we cannot handle and will provide us a way to escape. He is our refuge, our very present help in trouble!

May God bless you and help you to grow in the grace and truth of Christ and look to Him in your time of need so your hope in Him may strengthen your faith as you experience the fullness of life Christ came for us to have.
